Titles do have a way of changing. Luckily, our aquisitions dept. enters by ISBN and often finds them before they are ordered again. A larger problem for us are the romance writers in particular who have been in business a long time. We find on a regular basis books that are repackaged with a different title, publisher and ISBN. Luckily they are not expensive and it is time for their fans to have fresh copies anyway.
Per another subject, anyone with thoughts of the hoopla over Spanish titles in libraries? I had to do a count yesterday of Spanish and two other languages. I decided to use French and German. In our ten libraries, we have 1429 in Spanish, 298 in French and 262 in German. Are you all having questions about this also?

Happy Summer!
I was wondering has everyone else noted there seems to be more books changing titles between the first appearance in pre pub sources and the actual Street Date? I was dismayed to find I had ordered Suskind's new book under the title Invisible Battlefield back in March, then jumped in with a rush order for One Percent Doctrine when that hit the headlines. They are the same book, same ISBN. Another Selector noted that paperback editions can have variant titles: American Knits! is the paperback edition of Falick's earlier Hardcover Knitting in America. Different ISBN naturally, same text, different cover art though.
Is this a new thing? Does it happen more often?
